Sex trafficking is a $173 billion dollar business that affects nearly every state in America. Luring American boys, girls and teens, the epidemic underscoes an urgent need for prevention in communities across the state.
Through donated Lamar Advertising billboards, the “Right Here” campaign will bring its prevention message in a 90-day “Right Here” campaign that will reach communities across the U.S. through Lamar Advertising’s High-visibility locations, including: Arizona, Texas, Nevada, California, Pennsylvania, New York state, New York City and New Jersey.
Selah Freedom, a national anti-sex-trafficking organization, and L.Y.N. Funding Dreams are the impetus behind Right Here, designed to help stop child trafficking before it begins. The campaign invites Texans to donate $2 or more at LYNfundingdreams.org/selah, supporting a $1 million goal for prevention education, survivor outreach and restoration services.
The campaign is rolling out in markets nationwide where Lamar Advertising has digital billboard inventory.
"Billboards have a unique and powerful ability to deliver urgent messages to people where they live, work, and travel every day, making them the ideal medium for raising awareness of important issues. Lamar strongly believes in using our digital billboard network to educate, inspire action, and protect vulnerable populations. We look forward to supporting the ‘Right Here’ campaign and helping address the crisis of sex trafficking in Texas."
Blanca Vela, Southwest Regional Assistant for Lamar Advertising Company
"Trafficking is not just something that happens somewhere else. It is happening right here in American communities, often to children groomed by someone they know. Our greatest dream is a generation of children who never need rescuing at all. Every $2 helps us get to a child before a trafficker does. We are grateful to Lamar for partnering with us and helping to raise awareness in America."
Laurie Swink, CEO and co-founder of Selah Freedom
Many survivors of trafficking served by Selah Freedom report first being exploited between ages 12 and 14, often following a period of grooming. Since 2021, Selah Freedom has trained more than 95,000 youth and adults to recognize warning signs, understand body-safety rules, identify trusted adults and distinguish a secret from a surprise.
Since its founding in 2011, Selah Freedom has served more than 7,500 trafficking survivors and trained more than 100 organizations in 35 states and 6 countries.
Every donor to the Right Here campaign may also apply for one of five L.Y.N. Dream Grants, ranging from $50,000 to $250,000, to support a personal dream. Grants are selected through merit- and need-based committee review and are not a raffle, drawing or sweepstakes.
"Selah Freedom has a dream—to make child trafficking something we prevent instead of something we grieve. When everyday people support world-changing causes, we believe their own dreams deserve support, too."
Ken Smith, Founder of L.Y.N. Funding Dreams
